Lucy is an extremely friendly dog and loves everyone she meets.
She particularly loves all of her family, although she and her brother needed some time to bond.

“My son is 5 years old and is nonverbal. He has autism spectrum disorder and was officially diagnosed a few months after we got Lucy. He did NOT like her for the first year of her life. I think it was too much of a change for him, and he didn’t like her being in his personal space.”
the dog’s owner, Miranda Peterson told The Dodo.
Lucy had a certain feeling that her brother needed a little more time to start loving her, and she became truly magnificent and gave him his space. Yet, in the end, they found an activity that helped them become closer.
“A few months ago, my husband started to take our son on a daily walk after he finished his workday. My son LOVES being outdoors so he thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband brought Lucy along as well, and then it just became an everyday thing. No matter the weather, the three of them go on a walk. The daily outing helped my son bond with Lucy, so now he loves playing fetch with her, pouring her food in her bowl every day, and occasionally he’ll go and pet her.”
Now, Lucy enjoys being outside with her brother, and over time, that started to include waiting for the bus to come on a daily basis. It was just another chance for the dog to bond with the kid, and that’s how Lucy eventually met the bus driver. The driver had told Lucy’s owner that he loves pit bulls very much, so he was as thrilled to meet Lucy as the dog was to meet him. Shortly after, saying hi to him became a part of Lucy’s daily schedule.

In the morning, she goes outside with her brother, sees him off to school, and greets the bus driver. After that, she waits all day for the bus to return, runs outside and welcomes her brother and says hi to her favorite bus driver once more. That part of the day is totally her favorite, and she never ever skips it for any reason. As she eagerly greets her driver friend every single day, it looks as if she’s showing him gratitude for looking after her brother.
It seems she has the sense that her brother is a little different in an amazing way, so any person who looks after him the way she does surely deserves her love and affection.
Certainly, waiting all day for her brother and the bus driver to return can be a little monotonous but the lovely pit bull doesn’t mind. At this point, Lucy knows when the bus is getting close to their home and gets so excited every single time.
“She is like a little alarm clock and lets me know when the bus is outside. She immediately starts whining and waits by the door. I always ask her to wait (because of manners) until the bus driver helps my son get off, and as soon as I say, ‘OK,’ she runs to him for a quick pet then runs back to me as if she’s telling me, ‘Mom! He’s here! It’s really him!’ Then she goes back for longer pets.”
All the people in Lucy’s life are very important to her. She enjoys having her little routines with all of them, including (and particularly) the bus driver that gives a ride home to her brother.
